An opportunity for an experienced Product Safety / Toxicology specialist to join the expanding product EHS team at a leading manufacturer of pigments and performance additives. Your key duties will be to provide high quality data for hazard communication documents (SDSs and labels), to develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of global regulations impacting the applications of the ingredients, to conduct risk assessment and toxicological safety assessment of products and to provide advanced support to customers on product safety matters relating to product introductions.

This role will cover pigments and additives that have diverse global applications into markets including coatings, fibres, pharma, medical device, inks, cosmetics, food paper and plastics. It is an opportunity to become the “go to” expert for regulatory compliance and for addressing customer regulatory requests. You will also carry out impact assessment on any regulatory developments and communicate appropriate preventative and corrective actions to the relevant business functions. You will carry out toxicological reviews and risk assessment of products and source toxicological test data to fill gaps.

We are looking for a graduate chemist or toxicologist with a proven track record in product safety and toxicological risk assessment. Ideally you will have a raw materials assessment background; we are interested in experience from a range of sectors eg chemicals, pharma, cosmetics, food, feed etc. You must have a sound knowledge of hazard classification, a good foundation knowledge of legislation / regulations along with the ability to research and understand new legislation, or legislation in sectors new to you. Experience of IUCLID, CHESAR and other relevant IT tools is important. You must be a confident communicator able to work in a multi-functional environment and be able to provide expert support to customers on highly complex regulatory and toxicological matters.
