Excellent salary + benefits and ongoing training
We are looking for a Toxicologist to join the product stewardship department an Oxfordshire based speciality chemicals company. Working within a team of toxicologists, you will provide toxicological support to product registrations, product development and commercialisation. This will include hazard and risk assessments, generation of data at external CROs, working with regulatory consultants, monitoring regulatory and toxicological developments, provision of toxicology advice and representation at trade association meetings and with consortia.
This will be a diverse and challenging role within the products stewardship function of a highly successful global chemical business. We are looking for someone with strong mammalian toxicology knowledge, good organic chemistry and someone who is open to working in other technical areas eg ecotoxicology and environmental fate – you will gain a breadth of knowledge across different technical disciplines – very rare and an excellent career opportunity.
Suitable candidates are likely to have a post grad qualification (MSc) in Toxicology and ideally a degree in chemistry, or a good understanding of organic chemistry. You will be working with very complex chemistries, hence the need for chemistry knowledge. Ideally you will have some experience of toxicology or regulatory toxicology in an industrial setting, preferably within the chemical industry. Regulatory knowledge (REACH, TSCA, GHS, CLP) would be useful. Confident communication skills are essential; you must be able to explain complex scientific issues in layman’s terms, you must be able to defend you findings but also be open to opinion and new concepts from you toxicological colleagues. The ability to work in a team in a collaborative manner is essential.
